After years of film photography my digital age dawned in the early 2000s.  With this technology I have continued my quest to create images that are pleasing to my own eye with the hope that others enjoy them as well.

I have had the pleasure of traveling extensively to many parts of the world, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. With my ever-present camera I have captured thousands of digital files that comprise quite a photo travel journal. I try to keep an open and critical eye, looking for that new image I just can't pass up.

People often ask me how to develop their skill with photography.  I believe it is not about the camera, software or equipment; not about how exotic the subject or location may be, but rather that success lies in training the eye for composition and understanding how light creates the image. One of the keys to improving my own skills  is through a ceaseless review of photographs by the great masters like Adams, Rowell, Weston, Stieglitz, Cartier-Bresson and others. One shouldn't try to mimic them, but rather to understand what they were trying to portray and how they used the light.

My quest is not yet finished. I have not completed my life-portfolio. More images remain free in the wild and must be captured. My hope is that you all have a similar passion for the craft and this brief look into my photo-history encourages you to get out and shoot. Maybe I’ll see you out in the field!
